Wendy Hare Field Leader

Wendy was born in New Zealand, and lives on the Coromandel. Wendy holds a B.Sc. in Agricultural Science (with honours) from Massey University (Palmerston North, New Zealand). She also has a certificate in adult education from the Waikato Polytechnic (Hamilton). Wendy brings 28 years of experience in conservation work and education to EcoQuest.

Both in her chosen career path and as a volunteer, Wendy has worked in many places throughout New Zealand and its offshore and outlying islands. Wendy has worked as a wildlife technician and ranger, hut warden, conservation corps supervisor, tourist guide, and (early on in her career) agricultural economist. Wendy is a Bushcraft and Outdoor First Aid Instructor certified by the Mountain Safety Council. Wendy's experience with wildlife conservation includes work with a number of vulnerable and endangered native species (bids, invertebrates and reptiles).

In her role as field leader, Wendy shares the responsibility to ensure the safety and smooth running of field exercises and extended field trips. She also is a support person for Directed Research Projects.
