Day number something on the South Island somewhere...
Another awe-inspiring and productive day unfolded for the Eco-Quest whanau this morning. We woke up to join Ria above the tree line to study the ecology of alpine plants in the Otira Valley. Truly, a stretch of fabulous weather has graced us here. Crazy clouds slowly spewing over the northwest mountaintops is a typically beautiful day here on the fault.
After a late lunch and some garbage art, we headed back to Gerry's Wilderness Lodge for a few more humbling experiences. Using the man and woman power of the group, we accomplished a week's worth of one human's work, maybe even a future's worth of nature's work by setting over one thousand endangered mistletoe seeds on the mountain Beech trees on Gerry's property. He liked us so much that he let us wrestle his Armani sheep and tramp through his blackberry bushes.
