Dr. Brian Coffey

Brian, a leading environmental scientist in New Zealand, holds B.Sc., MSc (Hons) and Ph.D. degrees from Auckland University, NZ. Brian is an Affiliate Assistant Professor in the Department of Natural Resources at UNH.
Brian heads his own consulting firm (Brian T. Coffey and Associates Limited), which provides research and consultation on marine, estuarine, and freshwater biological surveys, water management plans, resource consent applications and monitoring and water supply and wastewater treatment. He is an active member of the New Zealand Society of Coastal Sciences and Engineering, the N.Z. Limnological Society (a two term past president), and the N.Z. Water and Wastewater Association. He is a life member of the World Wide Fund for Nature. In his early career, Brian spent 13 years as a Scientist for the Ministry of Agriculture and Fisheries. In addition to his work with EcoQuest, Brian has been involved with a number of educational initiatives: he serves as a lecturer at Massey University, Chaired the Scientific Advisory Committee of the Marine Studies Program, Bay of Plenty Polytechnic, Tauranga; and is the former chair of the Hillcrest High School Board of Trustees.
Brian leads field exercises, delivers lectures, supervises Directed Research Projects and serves as a Member of the EcoQuest Advisory Board.
